Ever felt you needed something to hang on the wall or to stand on your shelfs to make your house fell like home ? What if the time you spent at home could really feel as if it’s your place while expressing your personality?
These are the 5 reasons why art makes your house feel like home…
1. Gives Your Home Personal Character
Expressing ourselves is part of who we humans are, from what we wear, to who we follow on social media and even what our spaces look like. Having art in your home is the perfect way to express your taste, your artistic interests, and aesthetic choice. This is all an expression of who you are, what you want to feel, and what you believe in. It’s a sign language with no words but strong sense of communication towards us and towards others. Art humanizes the space you are in, giving it a sense of warmth and personality.
2. Gives You Pleasure
Have you ever felt that sense of awe while looking at a piece of art? Well, that is because by looking at works of art our brain releases dopamine, which causes us to feel pleasure, desire, and romantic love. It's as if through the texture, shapes, and color we can feel and see through the eyes of the artist.
For example this beautiful Mexican folk art piece — The Alebrije Fortune Wheel creates a mood of happiness, joy, and light —good for brightening the room and giving life and a positive vibe to the space.

3. Inspires You
In spaces with the absence of art there is a lack of artistic expression and thus there is less inspiration and fostering of creativity. Rooms with art on the other hand inspire and move people emotionally making them feel things they never thought they could feel and imagine places and ideas they wouldn’t have without the presence of art.
4. Connects You With Others
Art can also be a catapult to kickstart ideas and conversations with others — For example talking about the tradition that surrounds the Tzompantlí Skull, and the worldview of the native Mexicans towards death while observing and enjoying the Tzompantlí Skull piece in your living room with friends.

5. Stimulates Your Memory
Having art at home can be a great memory stimulator — it can make you recall the time you traveled to Mexico, the people you met there, the places you visited, or the whole trip experience. Just by staring at it you can start to imagine where it was created, how did the artist live, and the mood surrounding its creation and purpose. Life is made up of moments and what better than stimulating your brain to remember them?
I decided to dedicate my life to explore the sense of art. I wake up every day and feel surrounded not just by art pieces, but by faces, travels, emotions…color. So, I encourage you to choose your art carefully and to surround yourself with pieces that speak to you — I bet you they will bring you lots of joy.
